Jordan Vogt-Roberts- the director of the Kong movie: “Skull Island” came to Vietnam in March. He is the first tourist in the world to go through Son Doong cave

Son Doong is the largest natural cave in the world located in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park. If you have heard about this place, you will surely want to come here once in your life!

The biggest cave

With the height of over 200m, 150 meters wide and 5 kilometers long, Son Doong Cave (Quang Binh, Vietnam) is considered as the largest cave in the world. It was first discovered in April 2009, but until July 2009, the new Son Doong cave was officially published and attracted many adventurers around the world. Some large pages such as National Geographic or The Guardian have published articles praising the mighty beauty of Son Doong and called on tourists all over the world to visit it.

New enough to explore

The first person to discover Son Doong in 1991 was a local resident named Hu Khanh. He accidentally came across the cave when he was sheltering from the rain. It was not until 2006 that the British Royal Caves Association expedition went to this area to explore that Ho Khanh showed them about it. Until 2009, this cave had been known as one of the most eye-catching destinations in the world. Besides, Son Doong is a part of an underground system connected with more than 150 others unknown in Vietnam, which located near the border between Vietnam and Laos. Son Doong is also a challenging mystery not only for researchers but also for explorers.

Not an easy game

Sometimes having enough money does not mean having the opportunity to explore Son Doong. Since this cave is a typical tourist type, it has not been put into operation and only Oxalis Adventure Tour has been licensed by the People's Committee of Quang Binh province for tourism resources exploitation here.

In fact, in Vietnam, there are a number of picturesque destinations but not for those who prefer resort-style vacation, because of their adventurous and hazard nature. Son Doong is such a place that can satisfy their desire. Son Doong is not simply a walk it is a journey of hardship with strong feelings. So it is only suitable for those who have steel spirit and tough health.
